Provet and Cetra for Vets integration guide.
Follow the steps below to set up and use Cetra for Vets within Provet.
Step One: Create your Cetra account
Before using the integration, you’ll need an active Cetra for Vets account.
Go to the Cetra for Vets sign-up page
Choose either:
Professional plan (for individual users), or
Clinic plan (for multi-user practices)
Complete the registration process and log in
Top tip: Make sure you can successfully log in before moving to the next step.
Step Two: Request activation of the Cetra integration from Provet
The integration must be enabled on Provet. To add the Cetra application go to:
Settings
Integrations
Open API integration access
Enable for chosen or all clinic
You will need to ask Provet to configure the “Cetra Handout List” button. To do this please: Please note that you won’t see the Cetra button until Provet confirms activation.
Contact your Provet support team or account manager
Request that the Cetra integration is activated for your Provet account
Once enabled, a ‘Cetra Handouts List’ button will appear in the Provet interface (top right hand corner). Please note that you won’t see the Cetra button until Provet confirms activation.
Step Three: Log in to Cetra in a separate window
Before sending a handout:
Open Cetra in a new browser tab or window
Log in to your Cetra account
Important: To have the best experience, we recommend being logged into Cetra before clicking from Provet. If you’re not logged in, the handout page may not load correctly.
Step Four: Open the client record in Provet
Log in to Provet
Search for and open the client record you are consulting with
Navigate to the relevant consultation or patient view
Make sure you’ve selected the correct client before sending a handout, especially in busy clinics.
Step Five: Launch Cetra from Provet
Click the “Cetra Handout List” button (top right corner)
This will:
Open Cetra’s handout search page
Link the session to the selected client in Provet
You should be taken directly into Cetra without needing to log in again (if Step 3 was completed). When successful, you will see a ‘Provet connection successful’ confirmation message appear in Cetra.
Step Six: Search for a handout
Use the search bar in Cetra to find the appropriate handout
You can search by:
Condition (e.g. “TPLO”)
Topic (e.g. “post-op care”)
Species-specific terms
Click on the handout to preview it
Step Seven: Customise the handout (optional)
If you’d like to personalise the content of your handout:
Edit the text and/or illustrations within Cetra
Click ‘Save’ to store your customised version
Then:
Go to your ‘Workspace’
Locate your saved handout
Click the ‘Share by Email’ icon
If you don’t need to customise:
Simply click the ‘Email Share’ button on the standard handout
Note: Only email sharing will log the activity in Provet. Other sharing methods (e.g. link, print) will not be recorded.
Step Eight: Select the correct client and animal
A dropdown will appear with client details from Provet
Select:
The correct client
The correct animal/patient
If the client has multiple animals, all will be listed—double-check your selection before sending.
Step Nine: Send the handout
Click ‘Send’
A prompt will appear where you can select the Provet customers email address.
This will:
Email the handout directly to the client
Automatically log the interaction in Provet
If the client doesn’t receive the email, ask them to check their spam/junk folder.
If no email address appears, then this is due to no email address being provided in Provet. In this case, you will need to enter the email address manually. Please note, if the email address is provided manually then it will not track the communication in Provet.
Step Ten: Confirm the handout is logged in Provet
Return to Provet
Open the client’s ‘communication’ tab
You should see:
The name of the handout
The date and time sent
A link to the handout
The entry should appear immediately after sending.
You’re ready to go!
You can now:
Send professional handouts directly from Provet
Automatically log client communications
Save time while improving client education
